Katko is a student organisation for students studying educational sciences and students studying to become special education teachers in the University of Turku. Members of Katko can be easily recognized wearing red overalls at different events.
Katko organizes different kind of activities for its members. Our events vary from culture and sports to wellbeing and parties. The biggest events of the year are Kastajaiset (the traditional party for freshmen in the beginning of the fall semester), pre-Christmas party and May Day. International students are warmly welcomed to all of our events!
Katko isn’t here just for organizing leisure events for your free time, but also to oversee your rights during your studies. To do this Katko works in cooperation with the department and faculty staff. Our head organisation Index offers the opportunity to keep in touch with the students who study in the Faculty of Social Sciences. By joining Katko, you are automatically become a member of Index as well, with no extra fees. Katko is also in cooperation with Opex, the student organisation for students studying to become teachers.
Katko’s board has office hours once a month and you can find the specific times on Katko’s Instagram and in the weekly newsletter. During office hours you can come and ask any questions you have about Katko or buy our overall patches.
